The p47 Thunderbolt (Jug) was a radial engined American fighter that served in Europe during World War 2. Robust and heavily armored, it could take hits and keep on flying. It was well suited as a ground attack fighter due to its air cooled engine. In line liquid cooled fighters were vulnerable to ground fire hitting its radiator which would disable its engine. It also served as an escort fighter in a limited role. It had a fantastic dive rate and was armed with 8 50cal machine guns, 4 in each wing.
