First, what a Talisman is
A Talisman is Splinterlanes' own asset — it does not exist in Splinterlands. Each one carries one to three mods that govern its owner's Friendly Lane: the first is always a Rules Mod (a Splinterlands ruleset in effect over that Lane, from Earthquake to Reverse Speed), and the rarer Talismans stack a Tier 2 or Tier 3 mod on top — extra Mana, tougher arrivals, a refund when your first Monster falls. Your opponent fights under it too, because your Friendly Lane is their Hostile Lane.
Talismans arrive two ways today: as battle prizes from Ranked and stakes play, and with every Real Sealed Bundle, which comes with one of Tier 2 or higher to keep. However it came, it is yours — equip it to a Deck, show it in your Gallery, Engrave it on the Hive blockchain. What you cannot do yet is trade it.
What the Market will do
- Sell a Talisman you own. Name a price, list it, and it stays listed until someone buys it or you take it down. Listing never requires an Engraving.
- Buy one you want. Browse every listing on the site — every Rules Mod, every tier — and buy the one that fits the Deck you are building. Chasing a Tier 3 for a Back to Basics Lane you have planned around? This is where it will come from.
- Arrive already Engraved. Every Talisman bought is Engraved on-chain by the house as part of the sale, at no cost to the buyer — the same permanent record you can pay a Ticket for today, included.
- Pay the way you already do. One Hive Keychain signature per purchase, in DEC or SPS, exactly as you top up Tickets now. No stored keys, no balance held for you — and if a sale cannot complete, say the seller took the Talisman down while your payment was on its way, your payment comes straight back in full.
- The house takes 5% of each sale. The seller keeps the rest.
Every Talisman that has ever changed hands will be reconstructable from the chain — that is what the Engraving on purchase is for. Ownership lives on our side, but the record of what you bought, from whom, and what it carried is written where we cannot lose it.
What it will not be
It is not a place where Talismans are minted. Nothing appears on the Market that was not already someone's — the supply is what players hold and choose to part with. That also means the Market is the first time a Talisman will carry a price, and that price will be set by the seller, not by us. We are curious what a three-mod Talisman is worth. So, we suspect, are you.
Why not today
Because buying and selling touch your assets, and everything that touches your assets on Splinterlanes has met one bar: the prize path. Real cards have moved from our account to yours on-chain since the day we opened. The Market is built and running behind its door, and it is being tested with our own money before it is ever tested with yours — by hand first, then hard. There is no date. When it opens, this blog says so first, and the Coming Soon panel simply becomes the Market.
Meanwhile
- Win them. Every ticketed win in Ranked or a stakes room rolls for a prize — sometimes that prize is a Talisman. A Real Sealed Bundle brings one with it, too.
- Stack the odds. A foil-heavy Deck lifts a prize Talisman's chance of landing at Tier 2 or Tier 3 — the Foil Talisman Bonus is explained under Your Deck in the Tutorial.
- Show them off. Your Gallery is public by username: a frame for every Rules Mod, your mightiest Talisman of each on display.
- Keep them. An Engraving costs 1 🎟 and lives on the Hive blockchain — proof of a Talisman that no server mishap can erase.
