"Thank you for bringing me" , I said chuckling and still amused at how much fun I had.
"I told you , you would have a nice time." my colleague turned friend replied.
Richard and I met on the first day of registration. We were both neophytes on campus, immediately we realized we were both in the same dilemma, we stuck together, navigating from one section of the university to another.
It was less horrible because we had each other.
Just like that, we became friends.
Richard had more friends than I do. He's friendly and social. I was weird and an introvert.
It wasn't the first time he was asking me to come to a party and after saying No for like a hundredth time, I said yes tonight.
If only he knew the only reason I was going was because of my dead battery. The light had tripped earlier in the day and even though we expected it to be fixed, that won't be happening till the next day.
And as a phone addict, I used up my battery... So, A perfect excuse to go out.
"By the way, I told the guys here you are my girlfriend." Richard screamed into my ear trying to drown out the music.
"What?"
"Why would you do that?"
"Because I don't want you punching anyone just because they tried to ask you out." He replied.
I stared at him for a minute before laughing.
"Oh, no... I wouldn't do that." I said defensive.
"Well, I know you. And I wasn't going to take any chances." He teased.
There was an awkward silence.
I kept playing with my drink for it not be.
"Will it be bad if I was your boyfriend?"
I almost choked on my drink.
"Uhn.. Hmmm.. .. I don't know." I replied
"Never mind. Forget I said that."
Now he was embarrassed and trying to safe what's left of the conversation.
"But we can find out." I murmured.
Ok what was I doing.
Something I have always wanted to do and wasn't going to let this opportunity slip by.
Now he was staring at me.
I moved closer, closing all gaps between us. His eyes were still on me. I guess he was wondering what was happening.
I wasn't, I have always thought about our first Kiss, and now it's about to happen.
I closed my eyes as I moved in closer, hoping he would realize what to do next.
Any moment from ....
"Yo! Richard come along, its time to play the game"
A loud voice called out to him while a shoulder went around his neck and dragged him across the room.
I was right when I picked solitude over the presence of humans. ....
