So earlier in the week I tried to use my 2015, silver, 1oz britannia to try and buy some milk from Tesco with no success. So today I went to Greggs (a pastry and sandwich shop) to see if I could spend it when I bought a custard slice.
Well I picked a silly time to go, early morning rush hour traffic..... Standing at the back of the 10 deep que, we do love a good que in this country, I didn't really get much time to take many pics. But here is a pic of the lovely sandwich/baguette section.
I got to the front and with now another 10 people behind me waiting I ordered my custard slice. "£1" the young lady said, to which I handed over my britannia. She held it, looked at it, looked at it again, looked at it AGAIN, then said "sorry I don't know what this is and showed it to a colleague.
I explained what it was, but with the ever growing hoard of hungry/thirst 9to5ers I thought it best to just hand over a £1coin and get the hell out of dodge.
So another place off the list that would rather fake, fiat currency rather than a solid silver coin
OK, so where next? Some people suggested McDonald's, so I guess I'll give that a go soon
