Showcasing an American Silver Eagle - World coin Wednesday..

Another day, and another silver "stacking" tag.... Today, thanks to @silverd510 and his endless tags, I give you #wolrdcoinwednesday. A very simple idea that allows stackers like myself to show off coins from different countries, some I may own, some I may want and some I can never hope to obtain.

Since this is the first time I've taken part in the tag, I thought I'd start with a coin that is world renowned, and due to the nature of #wolrdcoinwednesday might not have actually featured on anyone's posts. You see the majority of stackers found here on the blockchain are based in the United States, and since the point of worldcoinwednesday is to show case foreign coins, why would Americans show the famous American Silver Eagle?

You're probably wondering and thinking to yourself - "1993, that's a very random year to show!".... Truth be told, I raided my secret stash in the safe and pulled out a random tube, and these are the coins that fate delt me to show off.

It won't be long before this tube makes its way to my permanent stockpile "off-site", but they're still in the house at the moment because they were a recent purchase. I managed to pick them up for just over $15/oz, and since they arrived a few weeks back, I've seen their spot price almost double.

You would think that a coin that is over 17yrs old would be worth more than the price of silver contained within it, but these coins were minted to be sold as bullion, and unless you do come across some of the really early dates, the quantity these coins were minted means they are still rather common today.

Being bullion coins, you can tell they have been "well-loved" and handled frequently. They are covered with surface scratches indicating that the tube and contents has been opened and emptied on more than a few occasions. If you look closely, you will also notice slight milk spotting starting to develop on the coin surface. Now this won't effect the silver or the price, but these are destined to be melted either by me or by the who ever I sell them onto.
