Water is an education issue.

Many African rural communities are losing out on a huge potential of young people who want to learn; however, these students cannot go to school due to the lack of clean water in their community.

Some of these students have to get up early in order to go and fetch water for their families. They may be able to make it back by the time school begins; however, by then they are either too fatigued to attend, too sick to attend or simply too late to attend. The loss of this daily battle to obtain clean water, negatively affects how well students will be able to attend classes, concentrate while attending class, and ultimately, perform academically.

Wells for All understands the relationship between water and education in our communities. Clean water provides children with the opportunity to be healthy, allows them to arrive at school on time, gives them the energy to learn, and also provides teachers with an effective classroom environment and ultimately, creates stability in the educational environment.

Providing clean water is not merely a matter of providing better health opportunities; it is about protecting education, the dignity of children, and the future of the next generation of Africans.
