The final location of our pre-wedding photoshoot and they wanted to wear something a bit formal. I was told that there is a water dam near the area and would be a great spot to shoot. But before we get there we would need to go thru a trail with a lot of wild plant growth.
Along the way, we stopped for a couple of shots. Since this was my first time doing a pre-wedding shoot I was running out of ideas for the poses. I'm used to street photography and just capture whatever crosses my viewfinder. Directing poses is very difficult for me.
I am very thankful for my daughter as she has a lot of bright ideas. The pose on the photo below was directed by my daughter. I could never think of that pose.
We found a great spot with beautiful wild plants with gigantic leaves in the background. Almost looks like a spot that you could find in someone's garden. This is the garden of the wild and there are so many beautiful subjects here. I could spend a day here just shooting what I want. Maybe next time.
Wearing pants is a must when going thru some jungle. When taking photos you sometimes disregard your surroundings. While walking, my leg got caught on some plants with thorns and it hurt like hell. It was bleeding a bit and just I splashed water on it to clean it. It is always important to be aware when shooting outside.
We reached the top of the dam where the controls to the flood gates are. Then it happened what I was always worried about. It was starting to drizzle and I was afraid that it would come down hard. My camera is not weather-sealed and that is a big problem.
It's a good thing we had an umbrella with us and my daughter was holding it while I continued to shoot. The rain had a good effect as you could notice the raindrops captured at this moment. The couple didn't mind getting wet and wanted to continue.
As the cold rain fell, the scenes were getting warmer.
Another photo below is directed by my daughter and I think she is good at this. I love this dramatic shot as it feels real. I know there are a lot of professionals here and I would like to know how you manage to direct the poses. Is there an agenda? Pre-scripted set of poses for every event? Do you just go with the flow and just for something good to come up from the subject?
That concludes our pre-wedding photoshoot for my brother-in-law. The first time for me and I learned a lot with this experience. After more practice, maybe I could have the confidence to accept photo gigs in the future.
