Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

As we count down towards Australia Day (26th Jan), I was reflecting on how lucky I am to live in this great country! I've also been lucky to be part of TeamAustralia and I realised that I have not really contributed much to this awesome community. So I started thinking what initiative I maybe could suggest to the leaders and I thought of the theme greenandgold as a challenge to see if we can show or say what it means to be Aussie wherever we may be around the world.

I would like to kick start this off by contributing some pictures I took awhile back - it is a series of pictures and good on you if you know what they are and the history behind them.

I plan to do some follow up posts on what these natural gold nuggets are and the stories behind them.

These are photos of actual scaled replicas of the original nuggets and reconstructed with 3D imaging for accuracy. Most of the parts had to be reconstituted from old photographs.

Here goes:

These guys are very famous world wide so pardon if you already know what they are but believe it or not, these nuggets were part of my early assimilation into Australia and they helped me learn more about the culture, society and people of Australia and Western Australia.

If you also have any photos and stories that are #greenandgold please feel free to use this tag and tell us more about your unique Aussie experience.

Also don't forget to follow #teamaustralia and the MinnowSupportProjects (MSP)

Cheers!
