It takes nerve to keep going in the face of all that you are going through, and you did.
You made it through 2019. Pat yourself on the back because maybe no one else did or will, but you made it. A lot happened this year to stop you in your tracks. Maybe you didn't tell anyone because you don't think they will understand.
It's that much more difficult to face hard things alone. The loss of a loved one, the ending of a relationship or a job, your health is suffering or you just couldn't be somewhere you felt you needed to be...you crawled to the close of 2019, but you made it. You are praying that this year will end and 2020 will be kinder to you.
As hard as it has been, you kept going. You weren't gutless. You prevailed and you exhibited courage in the face of adversity. The odds may have been against you and maybe you suffered unfairly and it hurts...hurts you to your very core. But you arrived and soon the year wanes out and you find yourself looking into 2020.
You did it, maybe despite what other people thought you would do.
I want to congratulate each one of you who kept pushing forward through the pain, the loss and the heartache. No matter what you faced, you came through the other side.
The lessons are there and the future stretches before you. Let the pain go and build upon the lessons. Don't dwell on your own mistakes or allow the wrongs of others pull you backwards. The only way to turn is to the future and you will turn this new year into a new opportunity for growth and change.
Take it from me. I know loss, sorrow and fear. I'm well acquainted with my own humanity and flaws, but I am ever changing to adapt to the challenges and losses I have been forced to confront.
Today I celebrate your victories, even if it's just that you got up this morning or didn't quit. Let the night wash your memories with hope and strength to face tomorrow.
Here is to your 2020. Make it a year you won't regret or ever forget.
The best use of life is love. The best expression of love is time. The best time to love is now.
