Morning Thoughts
It's Friday morning. I've been awake since 6 a.m. I sit wrapped in a blanket on a 30° winter vacation day beginning a three day weekend, which will only be broken up by one work day, Monday, followed by an entire week off. I decided to take a mental health morning. It's long overdue! Read on to discover more!
Feed Me, Please!
This face greets me each morning. The first task that I complete (once I roll myself out of bed) is to fill Newt's food bowl so he stops crying. You would think with his insistent meows that he hasn't eaten for a week, but, I assure, you that is not the case.

I'm drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee and listening to Pandora and, currently, a newly discovered artist for me:
"Hoppipolla" by The Vitamin String Quartet.
The Struggle
I've try to keep up with work and Steemit... Steemit because I love you all so much, and work because it is a necessity. I haven't reached the place where I can live off of my writing... starving artist doesn't really appeal to me. For months migraines have been a constant torment. I recently began seeing a chiropractor in the town 50 minutes away. One of Chiropractor Joshua Click's specialties is cranial Chiropractics. His treatments seem to be reducing migraines. I've seen him twice last week. I cancelled this past Wednesday because I was still suffering with the cold. I hope to go see him tonight with my beau, Jeff, who is out of town working.
Last week I struggled through the head cold, which hit me pretty hard with weakness and severe congestion. Tuesday, on the drive home from work, my car was victim of a third deer accident this year, which could have gone much worse. Thankfully, the car is still drivable only having suffered a cracked grill and dented hood.
Winter Proper Begins in Pennsylvania
After work last night, I drove through Erie, Pennsylvania in a very bad snow storm. Once out of Erie proper, the highway cleared and I to made the remainder of the drive home in reasonable time. My commute takes me south along I-79 toward Pittsburgh. I passed through Edinboro, Pennsylvania (often referred to as the snow belt). Thankfully, the storm was centralized in Erie and Northeast, Pennsylvania. Edinboro was clear.
Breakdown
Minutes from home... what I've dreaded finally occured... I heard a dragging of metal in the dirt road the remaining mile or so to my apartment. I didn't bother to stop in the dark. I made it safely to my driveway. Once in the driveway, I peered underneath the car with my phone flashlight and discovered that the sound was my exhaust. It was literally split in half at the joint. I am relieved it hung on for so long! I previously scheduled an appointment to get the exhaust repaired December 12th as it was growing increasingly loud from a crack. My Buick LaCrosse is going nowhere until the exhaust is patched together enough to drive it to the garage a half hour to Meadville. Now I need to figure out a way to work Monday. I have a couple of options. Fortunately I had preselected today off to burn vacation time before it's lost. The car couldn't have planned better this breakdown. Some things are just ordered nicely.
Because the exhaust has been on its way out, my car sounded like a race car. That doesn't really go over very well for a grandmother of six!
I think a mental health day is in order. I think Sam agrees, too.
My cockatiel likes hanging out!
