Happy New Year!! 🥳
2020 was an incredibly trying year for many around the globe and we hope that 2021 will bring back that positive note for all of us!
We know... the reality though is that a few things from 2020 is following us into the new year such as the corona virus 🙄... cue the eye rolls everywhere.
Although 2020 had some really tough, tiring and strange moments, we managed to come across many positive events worth noting:
- celebrated our first wedding anniversary 👰♀️🤵♂️
- bought our forever home 🏡
- became pawrents to our furbaby, Taro 🐶
- the luxury of working from home 💻
- got to spend lots of quality time with family ❤️
- found out we are expecting 🤰🍼👶
- enjoyed a lot of healthy home cooked meals 🍽🥢
We just can’t complain too much. It’s been a blessing.
With Sydney having some last minute restrictions in place for the New Years celebrations, it can’t really be considered celebrations like other years. A few adjustments and cancellations to parties here and there, we finally settled on staying home and having my brother over for dinner and to watch the fireworks on tv.
On New Year Eve, we went down to the shops for some last minute groceries. On the spot, we planned out a menu and grabbed the things we needed. It was the last day of a not so ideal year that we wanted to leave behind but also wanted to end it on a good note with good food.
We managed to get 3 live lobsters, some prawns, garlic bread, steak and salad. I turned the lobsters into really delicious lobster mornay and lobster bisque and received praises from both brother and hubby 😜. Well, they better have enjoyed it because I won’t be making it again for a long long time!
It was in fact a lot of food for 3 people and we ended up having to go out for a walk around the block after dinner.
The rest of the night was spent playing games on the PlayStation, card games and doing the countdown while watching tv. A very simple night in and it didn’t feel anything near festive or anything special. We didn’t have our friends and the rest of the family with us at that moment. It’s different from most years. I’m not complaining about it as I think I’ve had it pretty lucky in 2020 despite what’s been happening. Being able to spend the last day of 2020 and first day of 2021 with anyone I care about is already considered lucky ☺️
