Became an entrepreneur in 2016...
I am in the financial services space. I have an investment advisory practice ( help business owners, executives and individuals with investments ). I also help business owners get short term funding to grow their business. Then I day trade options...
Growing the business have been challenging. In 2017, I moved to a smaller place, for financial reasons. 1 week after moving into my place, my mom passed away. Part of reducing my expenses was to be able to spend more time with my mother. So you can only imagine how I was feeling. 5 months after the death of my mother, my father becomes ill and goes into a coma. In his coma state he's very ill, deadly ill. Between December 2017 - Jan 2018 I went through an emotional roller coaster because his life was on a day by day basis. Thank God, he made it through and today he's in good health. Through all of this, I am running my business and trying to make it grow...
2018 was going well until October. Honestly speaking I know what my mistakes were. My mistakes were me spending more money on entertainment, than investing back into the business. I blamed myself because I am the only person to blame and I knew better. But just to make face with family, friends and loved ones, I spent and spent and spent. So in October I made a few mistakes with investments and marketing, which resulted in higher expenses and lower monthly revenue. November I had unforseen personal expenses dropped in my lap. December, the market had a huge drop which caused revenue to drop...
Based on the market, 2019 I lost a few big clients. Needless to say at this point, revenue is dropping and nothing, in my eyesight is going right. I need a change. I knew I had to make some changes and that starts within.
I needed to get myself back into a positive state. I picked up from New York and headed to Florida to regroup. Change is scary, but at times it's necessary. New atmosphere, new people and new routine to me is needed to stimulate creativity.
I've been in Florida now 2 weeks and the reinventing process has begun.
The beauty about my business is as long as I have laptops, smart phones and WIFI I can conduct business virtually anywhere. Granted my core based clients are in New York, but a few months away to reinvent myself is a ok...
