You will be surprised to know this information! A bicycle path has been built in South Korea that not only protects cyclists from the sun's heat, but also generates electricity through solar energy. There is a 32-kilometer-long bicycle lane between the cities of Daejeon and Sejong, which is built on a highway. About 7,500 solar panels have been installed on it. These solar panels generate about 2,200 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, which is capable of meeting the annual electricity needs of about 600 households.

How does this system work? Solar panels capture photons of sunlight, through which electricity is generated through a process called the Photovoltaic Effect.
This electricity is used to power the city's street lights, advertising displays, and other necessary systems. The best part is that this system is carbon-free (zero-emission) during operation, meaning it is completely safe for the environment.
This is not only an excellent use of technology, but also a remarkable example of science and environmentally friendly development, which will help make future cities more sustainable and smart.
