This is a work of fiction...

Standing tall in my boots I bent over the typewriter and typed even harder with my fingers going every which way looking for the next idea to save me until General Sherman, the cat named from out of a Richard Brautigan novel came close and whispered in my ear…

There’s a song that I’m looking for, and I just can’t find it. I almost know where it should be, but when I look for it it’s not there.

There’s a mountain I should be climbing, but I don’t know where it is, it’s kind of, out there, somewhere a long way from here, somewhere I may never get to.

There’s so much other stuff that I’ve never done I find myself becoming exhausted talking about it. And no, I don’t chase rats.

General Sherman, I thought as I beamed and typed away at the trusty typewriter a shilling in the breeze all my moonbeams into song.

Oh, I was so lost and looking for heroes as I pounded on those keys that I glanced at General Sherman the cat named from out of a Richard Brautigan novel and gave a quick wink, and then went back to it, and General Sherman the cat named from out of a Richard Brautigan novel wrapped itself around my leg, purring all the way.

I was thinking that I’m going to find that tune even if it kills me. I’m going to go into that deep and dig it out. I’m going deeper until I get there.

I’m not into fasting most of the time, but the idea sure must have its applications in the other times where I’m wrapped in butter leaves and writing about General Sherman, a cat named from out of a Richard Brautigan novel on my rusty typewriter.

I can say that I’ve died at least once for sure and maybe twenty times by accident but I’ve never stopped liking watermelons, juicy and sweet, and running down my face, which is another thing from a Richard Brautigan novel.

Richard Brautigan novels sure do have lots of nice things in them.

It’s funny what you think about when there’s nothing much going on and the cat named from out of a Richard Brautigan novel wraps itself around your leg.
