What am I?

They say I am jam.
How can that be if I don't look like jelly?
I will seldom end up in a belly?
I taste worse than a sandwich with ham.

My life is rather good.
I know I don't belong to the high society.
Fake, unwanted flora that's me.
But at least I have a great smell.

I am not so easily jammed.
Shoes, socks and toes treat me well.
I'll always hold to you my dear friend.
Don't worry I hang around.
Alive or dead sticky me stays till the end.
