A school trip is planned.
It's a day out to the theatre in the capital city.
The day turns out to be the end of the day. School first. Next to the bus and of to the big city, traffic jams and no meals included. Great, we do not need to pay for it (perhaps we already did or the EU did).
My youngest does not like to go and be back home after 9 or 10 pm (and I am not looking forward to picking up a child late at night by taking a muddy road). The kid decides no matter if it's a compulsory lesson.
Monday morning
"What shall I say?"
"When is this trip?"
"Wednesday."
"Say nothing it's not Wednesday yet."
I drop the kid at school and leave.
Monday after school
"What's that note?"
Suddenly a piece of paper is on the table.
"You need to sign it."
"Sign what?"
"If you allow me to go to the capital city by bus because of health risks."
"Health risks? What health risks?"
"The coronavirus!"
"Okay, I sign I don't agree."
It's hard to tell if the kid is satisfied I signed for NO, made a big circle around it and put a fat line underneath but it grinned at the time I made the YES invisible.
Tuesday after school.
"It's over the teacher decided we won't go."
"Why is that?"
"We had to share the bus with 26 children from a different school in the city. All their parents didn't agree."
"How about the parents of the kids in your class?"
"Ten."
"Ten? What ten? Agree or disagree?"
"Ten agree."
"How many children are in your class?"
"Sixteen."
"So the majority of the parents do not care?"
I can't help but the opinion that smarter/higher educated people live in the cities and the idiots on the country flashes through my mind. Is this true or do people in the country not easily panic and find it quite an adventure to visit the theatre in the capital city and watch what people look like over there?
I noticed yesterday the supermarket is out of oil and flour. I wonder who bought those pallets filled with it. Is someone panicking?
