Apparently, I was always attractive enough for boys and (elderly) man. There was a time the literally fell off their (motor)bikes as they watched me instead of the road.
I never cared about looks. It won't remain and before you know it you are dumped for the next model. A faster or in my case a more stupid one. The easy-going type, a servant for day and night, the one that loves to hear the partners complain and tell him everything will be alright, he's the man, the hero, blah, blah.
In my family, men prefer girls, daughters above sons. One son is enough and my father was really, really disappointed as he became a son with his second wife.
I guess the man in my family doesn't need sons to do the man's job. All women are very handy and know how to handle tools, how to repair a drain, mow the lawn and do a part of the car repairs themselves.
Most of the men in my family found themselves very charming and the perfect match but not one of them raised his daughter(s) for being a housewife, maid or depend on a man. So most of us studied, worked and we suit ourselves. We fix our car, go to car races, monster trucks and are the kind of woman a man likes to have for a friend and a part of the women see as their enemy (don't worry we are not after your husband).
My first driving lessons started on the graveyard in Eindhoven given by an uncle not my father. I visited car races with him and he drove himself too (at that time he still fitted in a car).
My driver's license came way later. My parents didn't pay it for me. At that time I already lived on my own for over 10 years and was a single mom of three children, all daughters.
