There is a time and place where public displays of affection are heartwarming and natural. And there are other times where it is entirely inappropriate. There are also different degrees of affection, and some are definitely cringeworthy. If a couple is making out to point where they have tongues down each other's throats and hands all over each other's bodies, then I don't want to see that in public. Maybe in an erotic club or something of that nature where the patrons go there for just such entertainment it would be acceptable. But in general, that's going way too far and it causes discomfort. On the other hand, if the display of affection is hand holding or hugging or even a kiss, in the nonformal or nonworkplace setting, this would disturb me not at all. It is nice to see people being happy and affectionate with each other.
