The Greener Side of My Garden: Chilli Peppers, Ginger, Papaya, and Dragon Fruit
Good morning, Hive Gardeners!!
I won't be sharing my flowers today, but instead, I want to share the greener part of my garden. I don't usually share the vegetables and fruits we have because there were times I struggled to maintain them. Unlike flowers, I don't seem to have the green thumb with the vegetables and fruits. 😁 Well, we have avocado, coconut, pomelo, and mango trees, but they were all planted by my mom. I've tried lettuce, cabbage, tomato, and ladyfinger, but they all failed. I then asked for help from my husband, and now we have a few ready for harvest.
Here's the papaya. They are easy to grow. These are the first sets of fruit after the storm last year that wiped out almost all our plants.
We put green papayas in chicken soup with chilli pepper leaves. Scrumptious 😋
For nearly ripe papaya, we eat it with salt or spicy vinegar. Mouthwatering 😋
Ripe papaya for milkshakes, pudding, or eaten straight. Sweet 😋
Here is our chilli pepper. I thought I couldn't grow it, but here it is. Seems healthy and has lots of red peppers already. I have enough for chilli sauce. 🌶️
My husband also planted some in small pots. I think he has the green thumb for vegetables 😁, and I don't.
I planted these gingers from my husband's last harvest. At first, some of them withered, so I asked my husband to take over. I don't know what he did, but it seems to have worked. The leaves look healthier and greener.
Lastly, the dragon fruit. We got these cuttings from a customer. We don't really know how to care for it, but we still tried our best. My husband tied some cuttings to some wooden poles. He put some organic fertilizers in the soil before planting them. After a few months, they seem to be thriving. I hope they bear fruit soon so we can taste our very first dragon fruit grown in the garden.
Caring for flowers seems to be a piece of cake for me. But growing vegetables and fruits is a big struggle. I still have a lot to learn. That's gardening; it takes effort and patience. I may have lost a few, but I'm not willing to give up. I'm planning to plant lettuce and cabbage again. I hope I can successfully grow them this time.
Anyway, that's all for today. Thank you so much for dropping by. 🥰
