At this time of the year, the mullet harvest begins, a much sought-after fish that is the main source of income for artisanal fishing communities during the winter.
The fishermen leave their boats ready at the edge of the sea and set up lookouts at the most favorable points to warn of the shoal's arrival.
The mullet travels from the south of the continent to the coast of Brazil, where it spawns in the mangroves.
It is at this time that sinners encircle them with a net.
It's a team effort, the whole community participates by pulling the net to the beach.
Everyone earns fish according to the work done and the amount of fish caught.
A very common situation to see at this time is the fight between fishermen and surfers. Because of the fishing season, surfing is prohibited. I've seen a surfer running away pursued by a group of angry fishermen.
The photos are from the first day of the harvest.
My expectation was to photograph the process and participate in the fishing in order to win my fish.
But it wasn't this time. The fish did not appear and the solution ended up at a fishmonger to guarantee supper.

Olá a todos! Espero que estejam todos bem.
Nesta época do ano começa a safra da tainha, peixe muito procurado que é o principal ingresso durante o inverno para as comunidades de pesca artesanal.
Os pescadores deixam suas barcas prontas na beira do mar e espalham vigias nos pontos mais favoráveis para avisar a chegada do cardume.
A tainha viaja desde o sul do continente até a costa do Brasil, onde desova nos mangues.
É neste momento que os pecadores as cercam com a rede.
É um trabalho em conjunto, a comunidade toda participa puxando a rede até a praia.
Todo mundo ganha peixe de acordo com o trabalho feito e a quantidade de peixe capturado.
Uma situação muito comum de ver nesta epoca é a briga entre os pescadores e os surfistas. Por causa da temporada de pesca, o surf é proibido. Já vi surfista fugindo perseguido por um grupo de pescadores furiosos.
As fotos são do primeiro dia da safra.
Minha expectativa era fotografar o processo e participar da pesca com o fim de ganhar meu peixe.
