Walking Together Under the Cuban Sun
On a day when the Cuban sun was shining with all its intensity, my wife and I walked along the sidewalk, heading to my sister-in-law's house for a visit. We carried an umbrella to protect ourselves from the strong heat, but our shadows still followed us along the pavement.
En un día en que el sol cubano brillaba con toda su intensidad, mi esposa y yo caminábamos por la acera rumbo a la casa de mi cuñada para visitarla. Llevábamos una sombrilla para protegernos del fuerte calor, pero nuestras sombras seguían acompañándonos sobre el pavimento.
I liked the way the two shadows appeared together, with the umbrella between us. It is a very simple image, but it captures something that is also part of everyday life: two people walking side by side, looking for a little shade while continuing on their way.
Me gustó la forma en que aparecieron juntas las dos sombras, con la sombrilla entre nosotros. Es una imagen muy sencilla, pero refleja algo que también forma parte de la vida cotidiana: dos personas caminando una al lado de la otra, buscando un poco de sombra mientras continúan su camino.
