During my recent visit to Havana, I stopped at the Plaza de San Francisco de Asís, where a bronze statue of Frédéric Chopin sits on a bench. This sculpture, created by Polish artist Adam Myjak, was inaugurated in 2010 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous pianist and composer.
Durante mi reciente visita a La Habana, me detuve en la Plaza de San Francisco de Asís, donde se encuentra una estatua de bronce de Frédéric Chopin sentado en un banco. Esta escultura, creada por el artista polaco Adam Myjak, fue inaugurada en 2010 para conmemorar el bicentenario del nacimiento del famoso pianista y compositor.
It is a popular spot in Old Havana, and visitors often sit beside Chopin to take pictures. I did the same and took a few photos next to him. But something else caught my attention: the strong sunlight was casting shadows on the ground.
Es un lugar muy popular de La Habana Vieja, donde los visitantes suelen sentarse junto a Chopin para hacerse fotografías. Yo hice lo mismo y me tomé algunas fotos a su lado. Pero hubo algo más que llamó mi atención: el fuerte sol estaba proyectando sombras sobre el suelo.
At first, I was focused on the photos with the statue, but the shadows turned out to be an unexpected extra. That is one of the nice things about taking part in Shadow Hunters: sometimes, even when you go out for a different reason, you end up finding something worth photographing.
Al principio, estaba concentrado en las fotos junto a la estatua, pero las sombras terminaron siendo un detalle inesperado. Esa es una de las cosas bonitas de participar en Shadow Hunters: a veces, aunque salgas con otro propósito, acabas encontrando algo que merece la pena fotografiar.
The photos were taken with my mobile phone, and for the English version I used Google Translate.
