Hello all,
I would like to open the doors to discussing an important topic with you all today.
Terrorist Attacks have sadly become a regular event in society. It doesn't matter where you're from; you are a target. Whether you're black or white, gay or straight, Catholic or Muslim, Terrorism will in some way, shape, or form affect you.
Last year, there was a mass shooting at The Pulse, an LGBT+ friendly nightclub in Orlando, Florida. At 2am an ISIS supporting, American born terrorist named Omar Mateen went into The Pulse and opened fire. 50 people were killed and 53 were injured. This is being called the biggest mass shooting in American history.
With The Rise of Trump as the President Elect, we see somewhat extreme views revolving around how America should deal with the issue of terrorism. As Trump has said many times, he would like to bar Muslims from entering the United States, while expelling Muslims living within our borders, or forcing them to wear some form of visible identification. The Attack on The Pulse has been bringing plenty of support to Trump with supporters outraged about yet another attack on American Soil by an Islamic Extremist.
Omar Mateen was an American citizen. He was born in Brooklyn, New York with Afghan parents. He was not trained with the intent to come to America and attack. the victims of the attack were from multiple faiths. Muslims died in the attack as well. The issue is more the empowerment of Mentally Ill who legitimately believe that killing is justifiable.
