Hey there!
I'm back, and this time I'll be sharing with you more of my favorite music.
Dive is the second studio album by American ambient musician Scott Hansen's project Tycho. Taking around five years to produce and write, Dive, according to Hansen, is a set of "artifacts from a future which might have more in common with our past than our present.” It is a hypnagogic pop balearic IDM electronica record with a sound and style that was compared to the works of Scottish group Boards of Canada by multiple professional music journalists. Dive was released on November 8, 2011 by the label Ghostly International to mostly positive reviews from critics, and it landed on Billboard's United States Top Dance/Electronic Albums and Top Heatseekers Albums charts.
My personal favorite from the album is "A Walk". I remember when I first heard this song during my five month vacation before going to college. I was with my best friend in a computer cafe, and after reminiscing all the memorable success I experienced in 4th year high school, my mind was suddenly hit with this unsettling question: "What now? What's next?"
I was scrolling through YouTube at the time, looking for some hidden gems in the music world, and that's when I clicked the video for "Tycho - A Walk". When I heard the first few notes, I was hooked. I melted in my seat, and was suddenly immersed in an auditory atmosphere of warm, lush, and otherworldly sounds my ears never heard before. The eargasm that I felt was so good, I forgot that I was going through an existential crisis. Until now, I listen to the songs from the album from time to time when I need to relax and think clearly. This full-length album is one of my best-kept secrets to this day, and it's such a good feeling to share with the world something that I find so sentimental.
Check out the album now!
P.S. I listened to the whole album while making this post... Hahahaha...
Thanks for reading! More to come.
Take care,
