The Mucubají lagoon is located between 3625-3655 meters above sea level in the Sierra Nevada Park, in the state of Merida, Venezuela. It is one of the largest in the region.
It is believed that the name of the lagoon is due to how it was named by the indigenous inhabitants of the region. Mucubají means in this language "large water site"
