Bluebells

I have loved bluebell woodlands for a long time and have included them in my stories since I was a teenager. Indeed they have become a special place in both my novel series and for many years were my laptop backgrounds as well.

Researching some of the symbolism recently I have learnt that they represent truth, humility, everlasting or enduring love and gratitude. Some also associate the flower with purity and spirituality.

They are also often associated with faeries and in Scotland, witches.

The favourite flower of bees, my spirit animal, because of the extra sweetness of its nectar, bluebells are also unusual as they can have blue or green pollen inside.

There are lots of different myths and stories surrounding this flower, including one that says that anyone wearing a wreath of bluebells will be compelled to speak only the truth. Sounds a bit like Wonder Woman's lasso of truth!
