Yesterday, late afternoon, whilst our big hot water barrel was warming up in the sunshine, once again, Nelly ( formerly known as Mama Gatta ) was sleeping on the roof of our future kitchen. A roof that doubles as a terrazzo. Most days we sit there at least for a couple of minutes, usually with a drink in our hands, to enjoy the view and get a different perspective on our land and life.
Yesterday was another hot day but, for the first time in ages, we had a little bit of rain. And then, in the night, early morning, we enjoyed some more rain, clattering down on our tent.
In fact, I had to leave the tent to go into the house and close the open windows there ( as rain here is often accompanied by a strong wind ). I made good use of this opportunity to go for a pee too.
Talking about peeing, the following photo(s) show bundles of mint, hanging in our bathroom in progress. This space used to be a pig sty, up till 5 years ago. Unfortunately it still smells ( more than ) a bit like animals.
We are showering in this room daily, trying to get rid of the stench.
As is the same with everything out here, the improvements happen slowly ( pianissimo ).
Last but not least, I am sharing a photo of what used to be a chicken coop up till november last year.
It was filled with hay, until less than a week ago. Hay that we moved down, bit by bit, through the floor boards. It had been stored in the hay loft above it.
More on that process ( my hay days ) in my previous couple of posts.
A couple of days ago, @clareartista and I sat down in our now empty room and got a clearer and clearer vision of what this space might turn into. We plan to turn the room above it into a bedroom and feel that this room is gonna be a place to read, relax, rest and think up great ideas.
These two rooms are the coolest rooms on our land, at the moment and we are looking forward to making them even 'cooler'.
TO BE CONVINUED...
P.S. Please forgive me for the quality of my photos. My old phone finally died, last week and I have been waiting for a new phone for months now ( long story ). Up till that time I will have to make do with a retro Nokia Phone.
