This is my first time to posting into this community and and I really love the concept and the basic purpose of the community which is About homesteading
I鈥檝e always love to farm and harvesting what I plant makes the crop a bit special and different 馃槀
like a speed of light so they say it鈥檚 been two weeks since I visited this firm while it was attacked by pest. then I sprayed some pesticides in other to kill the pests.
Fortunately today, I realized that the maize are now healthy and the pest has disappeared. I hope the pests doesn't come back.
This is the ninth week after plantation plantation of the maize farm And yes this is the second set of maize cultivation this year, one set of maize cultivated has been harvested. I鈥檓 looking forward to harvest this particular set in couple of weeks. Mind you I already planted some cassava in the farm to succeed the maize after harvest and this won't make the farm useless for the mean time. Maize plantation needs a very good spacing in order to avoid overcrowding, and allow aeration. The average adequate spacing is usually between 50 to 60cm Between holes and 80 to 90 cm between rows. During planting, you drop 2 - 3
grain in the hole and boom germination starts. Har
vest period is between 90 - 120 days depending on the species. Maize are cereal crops and usually containing carbohydrates and are needed by both humans and animals.
Maize is very nutritious and delicious as it can be eaten while boiled, roosted, cooked with beans it can also be used to make pap, ekuru, flour, just to mention few..
it's all about maize 馃尳 馃尳 today
