The wind buffeted her face violently as the snow crunched under her feet, hurting like hundreds of icy, sharp crystals. She saw very little, almost nothing; in front of her the furious mist was like a wall that prevented her from seeing what was in front of her. The gust of wind was dragging her back, getting in her way. "The whisper of the wind was like a laugh that laughs at me."

A few weeks ago, they had received birds with the message that the soldiers of their town would return. The war was over and now the soldiers were marching in search of the shelter of home. It had been a war against monsters who wanted to lance anyone who did not kneel down and accept the laws of hatred and death that they dictated; they were monsters that dyed dozens of unsuspecting cities red and yellow. Unfortunate news had arrived, of all the villainy that had been committed. They had all suffered firsthand the pain of going to sleep without having anything in their stomachs, because the trade routes had been attacked.

She had learned of the end of the war even long before the messenger birds arrived with the news, by the time they arrived it had already been a few months. According to her calculations, the soldiers must have crossed the mountains a few days ago. It was obvious that the weather had delayed them, a climate unheard of even for the dates of the year. This seemed to be the harshest winter in many, many years. She had left her village for the mountains, in search of her countrymen.

She closed her eyes.

“I must use it, otherwise I won't even be able to reach the top. I must take a risk. I owe this to them. I owe this to my people. The children… the children want to spend Christmas with their parents. Parents want to spend the holidays with their children after so long without seeing them. My people deserve a time of peace. They deserve it!" She clenched her fists, opened her eyes and walked even when it hurt to walk. That walk was nothing with all the things that her town had passed through, it was nothing like being in front of the battlefield against men and their deadly creatures. She kept moving her hands as much as she could, because when she left them still for a long time she felt that they would go numb; she feared that she might lose a finger or her entire hand.

When she reached the top of the mountain she felt faint but she just smiled weakly, she had managed to get there, so she would achieve her goal. She raised her hand. Deep breath. And she concentrated on filling her body with the power of the world...

A noise! When she turned she saw dozens of blue eyes, as dark and blue as any human could have, a blue that burned like ice. However, she knew all those faces, they were men she had seen playing with her children, men who did the chores that her wives couldn't. These men were the ones they had gone looking for, however, they had a violent impression that the swords that were ready in her hands did not help to diminish them.

"It's me, Lily!" the woman yelled

Two of the men stepped forward and ignored her, attacking the woman with her swords, which were thrown back by the barrier the woman had created. The men made savage growls. The woman just looked at them terrified. The wind had stopped blowing. A creature entirely made of ice appeared flying above the heads of the men attacking it; the men parted and formed two columns so that the creature hovered in the middle of it.

No matter how much you talk to them, they won't answer you. They belong to me and they have no control over their actions, their feeble minds are under my spell. The blue-eyed flying creature commented with a solemn posture and voice. You came here with the intention of using the magic of the world to try to save the poor lives of these men. submit to me You will help me bring my brothers and sisters back!

"You are one of those creatures who incited this war that has brought so much sorrow and pain!" I will never help you bring back those who brought so much pain into the world!

The girl let out a scream as she felt intense pain throughout her body.

"You will do as I say, I will make you scream in pain until you lose all hope of fighting me!"

Tears ran down the girl's cheeks. She stood up and gave him an angry, determined look.

"You are nobody to make me or my people lose hope!" You have no power here, you foul creature! You can't talk about hope when you don't know what it is! I carry on my shoulders the hope of my people! My people hope to be happy and they deserve to live like this!

An intense light appeared around the woman and crowned the whole place.

It was said that that night a huge cross was seen crowning the mountain. The creature had died and the men had regained control over their bodies. When they arrived with the woman in their arms to the town they were received as heroes. The wind that had been attacking them a few months ago had disappeared that night, which had allowed the inhabitants of that place to decorate their town as was the custom at Christmas.

When Lily had the strength to walk, she noticed all those arrangements and they told her everything that had happened.

that's why you've achieved all this, Lily

The woman denied so with her head.

They are wrong. I was able to use that magic for you. You are what made all this possible. Without his love, if his desires and the happiness of being with his, none of this would have been possible. You made the beautiful and pure magic of Christmas possible. Now they just have to enjoy the fruits of their efforts: being happy with their happy beings.

Those words gave way to everyone in that town feeling proud of themselves and enjoying that occasion like never before. The laughter was plenty that night and when a shooting star passed by, she wished that happiness would be eternal.
