A young man was to be sentenced to the penitentiary for committing a heinous crime. The judge sad to him,"son,you are a disgrace to your parents.They should be ashamed of you right now and you should be ashamed of yourself too".
'Of course, i am ashamed of myself,i am a criminal and deserve to be punished for my nefarious activities,but my parents don't have any moral right to be ashamed of me. As a matter of fact,they should be sentenced along with me', he replied.

It is because of them that am here today. They ruined my life. My mother was a common thief who stole food and household items from superstores, when i was a kid she always took me along shopping and whenever i ask her why she stole,her reply was always"stealing to sustain yourself isn't a bad thing" . so like her ,i began with stealing little things and brought them home to her,instead of rebuking and punishing me she laughed and said you are a smart boy.
She taught me to lie,whenever the creditors came looking for her,she would hid herself in the room and ask me to lie to them that she has gone out.My father also deserves to rot in jail,he is a womanizer,he sent money and love letter to different women through me and threatened to kill me if i ever told my mother about his extramarital affairs,he would also put liquor in my hand and turned me into a drunk. My parents taught me nothing about morals or religion. They trained me to be a menace to the society and they should be answering for their crime."The judge said sarcastically you are a reflection of them".What a pathetic story this is!!.
The sorry situation of this young man and how his parents made him a delinquent depict the law of reflection,this law states that children develop behaviours and attitudes like those they spend time with. As a parent,your children spend the whole of their formative years and a larger part of their lives with you and you are the most influential person in their lives. When you look in the mirror what do you see? Of course you see your image that is a reflection of you.Your children are your mirror image,they reflect back your attitudes and behaviour,therefore be careful of what you do and say before them,they pick up language,attitudes,lifestyle behaviour whether good or bad you do.

When you ask christian parents what they want for their children,what are the most common replies you get? They want their children to be godly ,smart and other good responses. Don't tell your children how to live instead Live and let them watch you. Walk the talk,your child looks up to you and he will emulate your actions and strive to be a good person. Your child is a great gift life has given you and your responsibility to take good care of them is in your hands. Take time with him,teach him to have faith in himself by being a person he can trust without question.
So how do you walk the talk?How do you show godly examples to your child?
a) Don't disrespect your spouse or people in front of your children.
b)Live a Godly lifestyle everywhere you go and everytime.
c) Don't be lazy or idle ,be industrious.
d)Don't use abusive words/languages in the presence of your child.
e) Don't lie or steal.
f) Apologise to your child when you accuse him or treat him wrongly. don't be proud.
g)Explain to him when you discipline him.
h)Be prayerful.
Remember your child is a reflection of you.You might gone through what the boy in the story went through or worse at your young age but you don't have to pass it down to your children.Be a good reflection your children are watching.
