¡Hello Steemians!

Today I come to talk about a very peculiar topic, as everyone knows the computer is an invention of the twentieth century, but has not met even one hundred years of existence of its first generation. The invention of the computer came and revolutionized everything, from the way we work to the way we entertain ourselves, managing to become an essential device in the daily use of man. But, what is a computer?

According the web Techopedia:

A computer is a machine or device that performs processes, calculations and operations based on instructions provided by a software or hardware program. It is designed to execute applications and provides a variety of solutions by combining integrated hardware and software components.

The computer is made up of two essential parts:
The hardware that has been the tangible part such as electronic circuits, cables, cabinet, keyboard, etc., and the software that is its intangible part such as programs, data, information, digital signals for internal use, etc.

Perfect! Now that we know that it is a computer and how it is constituted, we can deepen our main objective, so let's start to enter into matter.

What is a program?

Well, a program is a type of software, which is based on a succession of instructions, written to fulfill a specific function in the computer.

So basically programming is to explain to the computer what you want it to do for you. When we program we are teaching the most foolish thing, the computer how to do something.

Why should I learn to program?

Easy, we currently live in a world governed entirely by technology, where it is rare to see someone who does not use a computer or a smartphone in their daily lives.
Programming is one of the few things you can do when you are sitting and simply create something new, also allows you to develop algorithmic thinking or computational thinking, which consists of taking a problem, dividing it into several parts and then using a tool to solve it.

As two big say:

"Learning to program extends your mind and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is useful in all fields"[1]
-Bill Gates

"Everyone in this country (EU) must learn to program a computer because (that) teaches you to think"[1]
-Steve Jobs

Surely I still do not convince you, that's why I give you these 6 examples of influential people in the world:

Elon Musk Co-founder of PayPal, Tesla Motor, SpaceX among other companies, at age 12 he developed his first video game and then sold it for $ 500$. Image
Mark Zuckerberg I create the famous Facebook social network at 20, from his bedroom at Harvard University. Image
Bill Gates Co-founder of Microsoft became interested in programming from an early age, while attending Lakeside school.Image
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Father of the Web, established the first communication between a client and a server using the HTTP protocol in November 1989[3].Image
Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both created the famous Google search engine, which was launched in 1998.Image
Jan Koum from poor to millionaire founded with Brian Acton the number one application in instant messaging Whatsapp.Image

As you can see, some of them learned to program since they were small and others, being adults, they all have something in common, they had an idea and they sat down to program according to it. So to learn to program you do not need a specific age, it's never too late, nor too early.
Yes, I know, you still have one last question, right?

Is it difficult to learn to program?

Now I ask you Is it difficult to learn to play an instrument? Is it difficult to learn to play soccer? It is not difficult, but it is not easy either, as all programming needs time and dedication, programming is simply knowing one or another concept, a variable, an integer, a cycle, etc., and knowing how to combine them.
Surely you once thought that computers are smart when they are really the opposite, they are extremely dumb, but they are excellent following orders, the computer follows fully every order that we give it.

So what is the complexity in programming?
Well, the complexity is in designing, logically a manual of steps that the computer can follow, to solve the problem.
