An ASIC is an integrated circuit that is customised for a particular use rather than general purposes use. ASIC means Application Specific Integrated Circuit. It is more efficient at mining than the GPU and it comes with a more specialised processor than NVIDIA 1080 card. Application-Specific Standard Products(ASSPs) are intermediate between circuit like the 7,400 or 4,000series. The maximum complexity possible in the ASIC has grown from 5,000 to 100 million.....wow..
Chinese bitcoin mining equipments manufacturing company partnered with samsung last year and finished the ASIC chips. Now samsung will manufacture and supply cryptococurrency mining equipment to the chinese market first. Samsung will be manufacturing the GPU for those that are targeting small cryptocurrencies. Before now, TSMC from taiwan was the only major sem-iconductor manufacturing company of bitcoin mining equipment. So we are looking at the competition between the TSMC company and Samsung ASIC company.
