Selling human organs is deemed illegal all around the world, and I can't necessarily blame those who came up with such a law because even though there's a law in place that forbids the sales, still we see people trade them in the black market; some even turn it into a business whereby they kidnap or trick people and then harvest their organs so they can sell them for a high price and accumulate money. I'm sure all of these things are what is put into consideration when banning organ sales. However, lately a few groups of people have been raising eyebrows that since it's their body and organ, then they should have the right to sell it if a need of theirs warrants it. But should such be allowed? In this article I'll be stating my opinion for this.
It's worth noting that every single organ in the human body has a vital role they play in our body, and doing away with any of them can lead to terrible consequences. Although I'm not a health expert, I know they're all useful because I've seen people who would often talk about their desire to sell one of their kidneys for money, saying, "What's the point of having two when you can survive with one?" I'm sure our creator, who gave us two, knows this and yet gave us two because they'll both complement each other. The same goes for every other organ regardless of if there are two or one. And I don't buy the idea of people selling their organs because a need arises that they must meet.
My reason for going against having the right to sell your organ isn't far-fetched, and I'll state it: take for instance even now when there's a restriction to its sales, we still have people who trick others just so they can harvest their organs and, in the end, leave them for dead or stitch them back up without those people knowing such a thing has been done to them. If at the end of the day they allow the sale of organs by a willing individual, I won't be surprised to see people take advantage of this, maybe by threatening someone at gunpoint to take their organs and make them say they give them willingly before a camera, so that means it'll only widen the scope of these criminals running the organ market scheme.
Additionally, humans can be funny and unpredictable at times, and for this reason, I say such shouldn't be allowed for any reason whatsoever. Because if it's allowed to go on, you'll be surprised to see the different reasons people would go to great lengths just to sell their organs. Some people would because they want to ride the latest car, because they want to live large like their friends, or because they want to prove to a lady that they're rich. The list goes on and on, and for these reasons, I'm against approval of such even though I understand that we own our own body and ought to have the right to do to it as we deem fit.
