The world is an interesting place filled with lots of experiences that come as a positive input into our lives and sometimes a negative one. And this experience and the people we meet that do such things to us go a long way in either intentionally or unintentionally influencing our life decisions and actions going forward. We've seen this play out on many occasions. Take, for instance, someone disappointed because they trusted another person who can vow never to trust another again so they can avoid being disappointed again. Such a situation can be regarded as a negative train; however, today I want to talk about positive trains and also share how that act of kindness I received influenced me positively to the point of working in the same step by showing kindness to others myself.
When we talk about good chains, I've been privileged to benefit from good acts, which leads to me reciprocating the same to others around me, and on several occasions here on Hive Blockchain I've shared such. Take for instance the happening I shared that happened during my national service days in the far north of my country, Nigeria. I was travelling when I beheld some mind-blowing beauty of nature in that state, even though I knew it was a dangerous place to visit at the time due to the insurgents and terrorists around that vicinity. During the journey I overheard a young boy who was carried by his parents reading from a text struggling with the pronunciation. As a teacher, I quickly stepped in to correct it and then guided him on how to read and understand what he was ready for, unknown to me that what I was doing was witnessed by his parents.
In about a few minutes for us to get to our destination, our vehicles were stopped alongside other vehicles traveling down that route, and we realized the terrorists were the ones who set up the roadblocks. Apparently, they were looking for foreigners of the land to hold as hostages to negotiate something with the government, and I saw before my eyes how someone that tried to run away was shot dead before my eyes. Seeing my fear, the father of the boy I helped with his reading earlier in the journey told me to calm down and that he'll help, and so when they began to interview us, the passengers in the vehicle, he lied that I'm his relative that resides in Lagos and just came back. Thankfully, I could understand the basic questions they asked in Hausa, and that's how I escaped that very day.
The scenery that plays out on that day is a typical testament of good chain, because the good I just showed to their child by helping him with his reading was repaid to me not long after that, when he lied to save my life. A close experience of that was how a stranger gave me shelter to stay for close to two years during my undergraduate days. Even though we were of the opposite sex, that act of kindness was so heartwarming to me that I decided to always reciprocate it when I have the means, and I did just that on many occasions.
Good chain is what we need in our society to make it a better place, when someone do something good to you, you shouldn't just appreciate them and move on, instead after appreciating them, whenever an opportunity comes for you to do same to others, make sure you do it, when we all do things, the world will become a safe haven and a better place that we've all been craving to have.
