This weekend my friends and I were in the Kotel Balkan and decided to hike to Vida Peak on Saturday.
The peak is located near the town of Kotel and there are several marked routes to it, but we took the one that starts from the main road south of the town.
We crossed a bridge and at the beginning of the route we started seeing beautiful plants and herbs.
We continued along a rocky path near the river.
The beautiful plants around us became more and more numerous and diverse.
The campanula was especially prevalent - so delicate and beautiful.
We also found mushrooms along the trail.
After a sharp turn on the rocky road, we headed through the forest following the red markings.
The path was overgrown with tall grass and missing in places, but the markings showed us that we were in the right direction.
There was a section that was steeper, but after that we reached the top and the view there was stunning.
The rocks were covered with yellow and white yarrow and wildflowers.
Vida Peak is 861 meters high and offers panoramic views in all directions as it stands out above the surrounding countryside.
There used to be a fortress on the top, but the high vegetation did not allow us to find any remains.
On my way back I picked up a gorgeous bouquet of mini daisies to which I added a campanula.
My friends and I had a great day in nature.
Thank you for stopping by!
