Dragieva Cheshma is one of the places I visited this Saturday with friends from our cycling group. It is located below Haramiyata Peak, along the scenic road connecting Sliven, Chukata, and Karandila.
We reached the fountain via a small turn-off from the main road. The autumn colors gave the woodland setting a beautiful and mysterious atmosphere.
The fountain itself was not running, but there was a shelter nearby where we stopped for a break.
The fountain was built in 1932 by the 3rd Labor Battalion—commanded by Colonel Petar Dragiev—at a spring situated between Lyaskov Rat and Prozoretsa, on the mountain ridge's northwestern slope. Originally named "St. Peter," the name "Dragieva Cheshma" later became the established name
