Picking up old hobbies

I felt a little silly leaving my white pen at home which prevented me from draw a design outline. I made it work after many failed attempts, snipping away needlework to start from square one. Then I began to view the fabric like I would with any other canvas, mapping out shapes and choosing a variety of colors so each area would read well.

I started with stitching a feathery brow, then a general almond eye shape with a crease and waterline. All in pink hues. Next I chose an ashy color for the iris and lined the outer shape of the eye with a blue color. I also did some experimenting with the upper and lower lashes, giving them a fun 3D effect. I’ll have to take pictures of this on a sunny day from different angles.

@kommienezuspadt suggested that I seriously commit to listing my work on Etsy. I am taking it into consideration. I’d like to create several shops centered around a specific product to keep my stuff looking cohesive. I just have to think of other branding names besides vermillionfox.

I got to chatting with a new artist friend that I met at @caffetto. He does some super cute illustrations and dabbles in sculpting. We talked about a lot of nerd things, sharing our favorite programs for drawing and discovering similar goals. He’s been thinking about making enamel pins and I also would love to get to a point where I’ve got a design I can send to a manufacturer. I need to learn how to draw with vectors first. 😐

I wish the evening could’ve ended on a high note but @guthrie accidentally smashed his iPad. The overall mood started to spiral down and now we’re left to ponder over the situation.
