It was a special and long weekend. Last Wednesday I came from work and went to walk the dog, there was an excited atmosphere. My sons and their girlfriends were there, and of course my wife. When I came back from walking the dog the front door was already opened, when I walked in there were suitcases in the room and passports on the floor, in a trail to the kitchen table. I was surprised but followed the trail. There were 4 board passes on the kitchen table for a flight, after I studied the passes I saw that they were tickets from Amsterdam Schiphol to Stockholm. Not knowing yet what we were going to do there, especially.My wife asked "What's in Stockholm", and then I knew. The Abba Museum.
And indeed, she had bought tickets for the Abba museum and the four of us went to Stockholm for 4 days in honor of my 50th birthday, August 11th. I was perplexed, I really didn't expect this. I mentioned that I had an important appointment at work the next day and had to leave early, but my colleagues also knew about it. She had arranged everything. This was so special.
At night we left for Amsterdam for the flight, she had even booked business class for the outward flight. How cool is that? When we arrived at the airport we could easily go through security because we only had hand luggage and no large suitcases. That was ideal, because we also had priority boarding because we had business class tickets.

On board the plane we were welcomed by the flight attendants and we got a nice place with very comfortable seats, lots of legroom and right at the entrance. During the flight KLM gave me a present for my birthday, a bottle of champagne, a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine. Very thoughtful.
When we were on the plane and the other passengers came on board I was also surprised because a colleague from my work also came on board. (quite coincidentally, by the way). He also went on a city trip to Stockholm with his friend, how coincidental can it be.
My wife also arranged everything in Stockholm, when we arrived at the airport a taxi driver was waiting with a sign with my name on it and he took us to the hotel. We arrived at the hotel early, at 10:00 am, and could not get into our room until the afternoon, so we left the suitcases behind and went into Stockholm. My wife had also bought a 3-day ticket for the hop-on-hop-off bus and boat (Stockholm has several islands and a lot of water. So we had plenty to do :)
What suprised me the most, beside this whole suprise , is how clean the streets in Stockholm are and how fresh all the buildings are. Never seen any city like it.... It was just stunning.
I'm still processing this special trip, will write some great posts about this trip. We have made some memories.
