A few weeks ago I wrote a post about my son's project (and secretly a bit of mine too) and his classic Opel. Some progress has been made that I would like to share with you here. It's starting to look like something on the outside :) The car painter has done his best and has made good progress.
What I like most is his proud head when he shows us the pictures. "Look dad, how far Rene is already" and "He's going to be beautiful"
The painter had some problems with the old paint, when he applied the primer, the old paint started to dissolve. According to him, this was due to the type of paint, it was not car paint that was on it, but cheap paint from a spray can. So he had to sand and prime the car more often.
The painter had also given advice to blacken the rear and door frames, as well as the spoiler on the trunk. The Ascona Sports used to have this too and it breaks the orange a bit. I must say, he was absolutely right.
When the exterior is ready we can pick up the car and we can start with the interior. That might be an even bigger job for us :) But we have already bought a lot of stuff for that, not rubbers for the windows, not fabric for the back seat, new carpet, you name it.
He had a fiberglass front spoiler come over from Germany. Of course this one also had to be orange ;) I'm very curious how it will all look when everything is mounted.
As a driver and co-driver you must of course have good seats ;)
