I didn't know this game! There were definitely a lot of platformers released back then. In my case, not many made it to Latin America, and back then, it was very difficult to get your own cassettes, haha, so the variety of games was sometimes quite limited. It was definitely the golden age of the platformer. And as for the mascot, well, many have wanted to do it. I think Nintendo, as such, has based much of its franchise on these iconic characters like Kirby, DK, or, as you say, in the case of Sega (Sonic), or at the time, Crash with Sony.
I really like the hairstyles. That was what caught my attention the most while I was reading. I was like, damn, why does he change his hairstyle? And well, something similar to when you absorb an enemy in Kirby, but in the radical style of this mascot.
The game is very well-made, as you mentioned. Thanks for sharing.
