Back in 2011, when I was living in Medellín, Colombia, one of my favorite juices that the family I lived with would make was called tomate de árbol. I never knew this, but apparently it's called tamarillo in English.
The fruit comes from a small tree or shrub in the flowering plant family Solanaceae, (the nightshade family). It is also known as the tree tomato and tomate de árbol in South America.
The last time we went shopping at Bravo!, we grabbed a frozen bag of it to make juice. We just made it, and man did it bring me back to my Colombia days. It's a bit sour, but you can sweeten it up with sugar. We made the whole bag, added water, and 4 tablespoons of sugar.
It's a fantastic drink, and I recommend it to all of you if you can find it.
