Prelude
Hello everybody, how is it going? It's time for more Battle Mage Secrets. Last week's sharing was on a ruleset that restricted us from using Magic attack card. This week the ruleset is something very common, it is melee's prized ruleset.
The ruleset of the challenge this week is: Melee Mayhem
Ruleset Spotlight
Melee Mayhem
Melee units can attack from any position.
Abilities/Cards that get shutdown with this rule set
Honestly, nothing gets shutdown, but there is a big boost to Melee attackers for this ruleset. You can still use your favourite range and melee cards because this ruleset does not have any restriction.
What thrives with this ruleset?
Now, we know that melee cards is given a big boost, we need to know how to capitalize this boost and at the same time, learn how to guard against it. Will breaking this section down to offence and defence.
Offence
How better to further boost melee but to give it Inspire which give additional 1 Melee attack. Next is to pick Gladius or cards with Blood Lust, these cards get bigger as they kill. Melee cards with blast also work well here since they can hide in the middle of lineup but doing blast attack as they start hitting with lineup protection.
Defence
With blood thirsty melee attackers coming at us? What can we do on defence? 3 key elements, protect, reduce and reflect. Protect very much speaks for itself, field cards with the protect ability to add 2 more armour to each card in your lineup. Next one reduce, which can be done in 2 ways. First is to use cards with Shield ability where less damage will be taken or use Demorallize to reduce overall melee attack from opponent lineup. Lastly will be reflect, and this will be done via Thorns or Retaliate. If you have Mylor, this is where you will shine.
Stats wise, armour, health and speed are all important. Armour takes care of opponent attack, health ensure survivability and speed allows you to strike first.
With these in mind, let's start to talk about the battle proper.

Prediction before pressing rumble
I prepared protect and demoralize on top of healing and blood lust. My opponent prepared demoralize and thorns. Let's see what comes out better.
Battle Synopsis
Round 1, All kinds of attack flying everywhere. My squad too quite a few damage from Cursed Windeku's thorns before taking it out. No casualty on my side.
Round 2, This is like an all hell break lose round, I have lost Grund but my lineup took out a whole array of cards from Disintegrator to Marksrat and also finishing off Supply Runner.
Round 3 and 4, This two rounds saw my team easily disposed off the rest of my opponent's team. Victory secured!
Post Battle Summary
Because melee attackers can attack from backline, the game ended real fast. Double attackers accelerate things even faster.
Did my strategy work? Yes, I planted what I needed and Disintegrate/Protect are all globally applied which is good because full lineup gets the buff. Some healing is required to ensure survivability and blood lust just makes the cards grow into war beast.
What's the Battle Mage Secret?
2 things that allowed me victory that I wish to share with you as a Battle Mage Secret.
The first is that, choose globally applied abilities, what I had this time was Demoralize and Protect. Both are globally applied, whereas abilities like Thorns in cursed Windeku is only locally applied.
Second secret is the presence of Blood Lust and Double Striking. Katrelba is essentially the star of the show with the double strike and blood lust causing it to grow super fast as it takes out my opponent's backline. Essentially, many of the melee Gladius cards would love this ruleset.
These 2 secrets gave me the much needed advantage to handle this ruleset.
