The sole stopover bus station in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh, is meant for land transit connecting Indonesian regions. The local government recently transformed the area into a game arena and night market with the theme "Lhokseumawe Culinary Fiesta."
The festival is deceptively simple, and the people who attend don't mind its aesthetics. In general, this festival is not characterized by a "Culinary Fiesta" aimed at creative economy culinary entrepreneurs. What stuck out the most, though, were the different game facilities owned by the businesspeople who took part in enlivening these activities. People here, as far as I can tell, are more enthusiastic about entertainment than culinary party thematic activities.
Lhokseumawe is a small town in Aceh that still survives its traditional activities, such as the night market, which may be an ancient tradition in some parts of Asia.
Night markets resemble festivals, carnivals, or fairs, as well as children's play areas, where all transactions are carried out at night. Various goods and services are exchanged here. Even if the value of an item has been displayed, haggling over the item's price is a common practice in this type of market. On the opening night of Tuesday, December 6, 2022, I went there with my two colleagues, @AnzirPasai and @IchsanNanda. The event zone is free to attend, but all games are charged. Carousel is the most popular game, you must pay Rp.10,000, or the equivalent of $0.64, to enjoy it for approximately 10 minutes.
One of the most popular games among little kids is the carousel on a flat platform. The cute and happy character has captured the attention of kids, something that will make them happy and exultant.
If you are interested in bringing souvenirs home, you can find various souvenirs at the night market.
If you're hungry or thirsty, there are a variety of snacks and drinks available, as well as heavy food.
This festival is a fair and a year-end party hosted by the local government. The main stage is funded by the local government, which hosts a variety of free show attractions.
