There’s a stretch of riverside from Hiroshima station heading east which is enjoying a much needed redevelopment. After looking like a bomb site for a couple of years following the mass demolition of old crumbling slums, the place is now a hive of activity with bright new buildings mushrooming everywhere and even the appearance of a drive-through Starbucks. Along the river there are a series of interesting climbing frames for the kids, each containing a different shape at its centre. The local children don’t seem to be using these, which is just as well for me, as I just love photographing them with my ultra wide zoom lens.
