This morning it already smells slightly of manure,
probably because my neighbor is busy.
But I praise the village idyll
even if it smells even more like manure.
Swallows sail here for their food.
Cows give milk for butter.
sniffles bleat, dogs bark,
Carsten often smokes trout.
Many move to the city
and seek what a village does not have.
I'll stay here without question
until the end of my days.
