Generally about peace and conflict between people , nations and how to resolve them. I read alot of books and almost a of them has different approaches to peace and conflict and they all widened my knowledge about how to maintain peace and how to resolve conflict and some commons causes of peace and conflict.
Although it is not easy to define peace and conflict in a manner that is generally acceptable.
Many people tend to define it in various way and different dimensions, so with this peace definition isn't exact of comprehensive.
Peace is defined from the instrumentalist, functionalist , philosophical , sociological and political perspectives.
INSTRUMENTALIST
Peace is seen as an end which is necessary for social progress and development.
FUNCTIONALIST
Peace is defined from two angles:
PHILOSOPHICAL
Peace is seen as divine gift from God
SOCIOLOGICAL
Peace is said to be a condition where a social conflict do not exist and where , by obvious implications , individuals and groups are able to satisfy there needs and expectations.
POLITICAL
Peace is anchored on the assumption that there much be some form of institutionalized political structures before peace can prevail in any society.
Outside these i believe there are other definitions to peace according to individual preferences.
And all these definitions by all means define peace in my own understanding.
Conflict is second in nature to man.
Ofcourse man is always in conflict with something or someone.
NOTE: conflict differs from violence.
Let's look at the causes of conflict :
In conclusion conflict is inevitable, it occurs because human beings live in groups and interact everyday. With these interaction at times leading to conflict and where differences over goals , objectives or even expectations exist between them.
Thats what we have on peace and Conflict resolution.
