INTRODUCTION.
Hello Naijians! How have you been? I hope this meets you all well.
This is my first entry to promp #18, which says;
Let's imagine the world had to let go between movie or music production and everyone has to cast a vote. The vote is currently a tie and your vote will determine what happens next. Which of them would you save with your vote and why?
This is really a difficult choice to make because, I love music and at the same time, am a movie freek. Movies is what I use to relax on weekends and after the days toil. I have seen many beautiful movies even as I also have many on my to-do list.
On the other hand, for many reasons, I love playing music. It is suiting to the soul even as it seams to have a way to make me feel better when I find self in very difficult family, emotional or work situations.
Choosing between these two things I so love is a little difficult. However, since I must choose, I will choose music over movies.
WHY I CHOSE MUSIC.
Even though I love seeing movies, this are the reasons I choose music over movie.
* Music is therapeutic.
The therapeutic effect of music to humans have been proven to have very positive effect on ones mental health, emotions, strees reduction and overall wellbeing.
It helps people to process and express complex emotions which acts as a form of therapy and stress release.
* Music as a cultural identity.
Music can be used to portray the culture, tradition and believes of a group of people. It can be used to promote the culture of a people even as it has the ability to preserve the cultural heritage.
It can also help unite people from different tribes and cultures.
Example; In Nigeria, we dance to "Awilo Logomba" from far away kongo, Malawi, kennya, Zimbabwe, Cameron etc. Even without knowing the meanings of the songs lyrics, we still dance to it.
* Music is diverse and vast.
Music is capable of cutting accross religious, cultural and language barriers. It penetrates the every age grade.
This is because, its form is wide with a very great genres and styles.
* Emotional impact of music.
While you listen to music, it has a way of connecting with your emotions. The emotional impact on listeners is very profound.
* It's unique interpretations.
This means that when a piece of music is playing to the listing pleasure of a group of people, there is uniqueness in what each and everyone of them understands. Each person derives personal meaning and form the rhythm, lyrics and melody of the song. This helps the audience connect differently to the art.
* Music stimulates creativity.
Engaging with music can help stimulate creativity and imagination within an individual. It helps individuals create their own melodies and sounds in their head or heart.
This further helps to foster self exploration and artistic discoveies that are fulfilling.
Conclusion.
I hope the points I have listed above are enough to convince you that music is more enriching and compelling than movies, and that is why I have chosen to cast my vote for music over movies.
