Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the whole New Year's thing.
January first as it stands is arbitrary. If 1/1 fell on one of the solstices or equinoxes it would make more sense.
And why do we celebrate a new year anyway? Why not a new month? A new week? A new day?
In each of these, we have a chance to "start over" or make a resolution.
Why wait until the first of the year to start something which you will more than likely not finish?
A New Year's day is simply the turning of a page
