The idea of marriage, in my own point of view, is something that should not be rushed into. We often get carried away when we see our mates getting married while we are still single. Seeing this, sometimes, may make us get obsessed about getting married as well.
Marriage is not a thing that should put pressure on us. At the right and perfect time, God will eventually provide the life partner He has prepared for us. Making a rash move may bring about consequences at times that could leave us with regrets at the end of the day.
As men, when it comes to marriage, we are to place our trust in God to provide a wife for us. Settling with a partner for the rest of your life is a very serious matter. To be honest, it is wise to wait on the Lord because, at the right time, He would present you with a wife.
Proverbs 19:14 says;
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
We see here that God is the one responsible for providing a wife. And not just any kind of wife but a prudent wife. This is actually what God wants for us. He always desires the best for us. A very vital quality of a wife is when she is prudent. By ourselves, we may fail to find such quality in a woman. This is where God comes in.
Let's look at the case of our first parents, Adam and Eve. Before Adam betrothed Eve, it was not recorded that he went out seeking a wife. Adam wasn't just without a wife; he was also without the company of a human being. But he never worked himself up about it.
God saw his situation and knew that he was in need of a companion. That's the same way God knows when we are also in need of a spouse. But the time we may think we need it may not be the time God wants us to have it, and this can be for a very good reason.
God's creation of Eve the time He did was not just incidental. God formed her at the right time that was fit for Adam. We see in scripture that after Adam was done naming the animals, God then made him a wife. The naming of the animals was a responsibility given to Adam by God.
I believe that one of the prerequisites for getting married is being a responsible person. We may think we are completely responsible, but there may still be some areas God is waiting for us to be responsible at before He can make available to us a wife.
