God did not tell us to marry many wives in the beginning of the world Adam had only one wife. In the old testament some men of God had many wives but God did not condemn them. These examples are descriptive rather than prescriptive. The biblical record often reveals that polygamous relationships brought conflict, jealousy, and family problems, suggesting that this was not God's ideal design for marriage.
From the beginning, the biblical pattern for marriage is presented as a lifelong union between one man and one woman. The teachings of the New Testament reaffirm this model and emphasize faithfulness within marriage. Therefore, while God allowed polygamy at certain times, the overall biblical message points to monogamy as the intended standard for marriage.
